Integrative-Experiential Psychotherapy, Couples Counselling, EMDR & Clinical Supervision

Experienced therapy thoughtfully shaped
around you

Hi, I’m Debra. I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a BACP-accredited psychotherapist who works with both individuals and couples, and I specialise in supporting people who have experienced trauma.

Maybe you’re holding it all together on the outside, but inside you feel stuck, tired or quietly overwhelmed. It’s completely normal to want things to change, even while feeling a bit unsure about reaching out for support.

If you’re wondering whether therapy is right for you or worried about being judged, you’re truly not alone. Starting therapy can feel a little vulnerable. My hope is to offer you a calm, compassionate space where we can gently explore whatever you’re carrying – at your pace, together.

If you are unsure, that is completely okay. A first message is simply a gentle way to begin.

Integrative-Experiential Psychotherapy, Couples Counselling, EMDR & Clinical Supervision

Experienced therapy
thoughtfully shaped
around you

There are times when any of us can feel a bit adrift or not quite ourselves, both within and in relation to the world around us. When we lose touch with who we really are, it’s only natural to experience emotional ups and downs—sometimes leaving us feeling unsure or out of sorts.

This is where therapy can offer gentle support. My approach is integrative, and I like to be actively involved—helping to guide things so you feel supported throughout. I draw on a variety of ways of working, always with the intention of meeting you just as you are. Sometimes we’ll have a chat; other times, we might gently explore together the patterns in your feelings or behaviour, and look at where they might have come from. It’s about understanding not just what’s happening now, but also what might be beneath the surface, so you can move forward with greater clarity and self-compassion.

Above all, it’s the therapeutic relationship we build that matters most. Feeling respected, understood, and safe is at the heart of this work, and I pay close attention to how our connection grows as we spend time together.

You won’t have to go through any of this on your own. I’ll be there to offer guidance or a bit of structure whenever it feels useful, and we’ll move forward at a pace that suits you best.

There are lots of different approaches I might use—such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, EMDR, Gestalt, Expressive Arts, Attachment Theory, Imago Relationship Therapy, Transactional Analysis, psychodynamic thinking, or hypnotherapy—but I’ll always tailor these to suit what feels most helpful for you.

At the end of the day, it’s not what a therapy is called that matters. It’s about how supported and connected you feel, and whether therapy helps you become more self-aware and able to make choices that truly matter to you.

I warmly welcome gender, sexual, and relationship diversity, and I’m open to people of every identity, background, and relationship style. I have experience working with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, and my aim is to create a space where you feel respected, understood, and safe to be your authentic self—because that’s at the heart of what I do.

Where My Journey
and Purpose Intersect

I understand something about navigating change. My own life has taken me across continents, living and working in South Africa, Australia, Germany and the UK. As a voluntary migrant and mother of two Third Culture children, I have experienced first-hand what it can mean to live between cultures — to feel connected to more than one place, and at times not entirely of any one place.

Moving between cultures and communities has given me a deep appreciation for difference, identity and belonging. It has shaped how I listen and how I understand people’s stories. I have come to see how our sense of self is influenced by language, family, history and unspoken expectations, and how feeling at home in ourselves is not always straightforward.

I am currently undertaking a Research Master’s degree exploring the impact of growing up between cultures and how this can shape the way we form and maintain relationships. This work continues to deepen my understanding of identity, attachment and belonging, and how these early experiences can influence adult life and intimate connections.

Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked in executive search within investment banking and information technology. That chapter of my life gave me insight into pressure, performance and responsibility. Over time, I felt drawn to deeper and more meaningful human connections, which led me to retrain as an experiential humanistic psychotherapist and couples counsellor.

Alongside my clinical work, photography is an important creative outlet for me. It invites me to slow down and notice what might otherwise be overlooked — small moments, subtle expressions and the spaces in between. In many ways, therapy is similar. It is about paying attention together, with care and curiosity.

All of these experiences inform the way I work. They help me meet you with openness, respect and a genuine interest in your unique story.
